How to choose a Web host
If this is the first time you are looking for a web host where you would like to park your first website, I suggest you get as much information about web hosts as possible. When you are searching for a web hosting company, it can be a daunting task with so many web hosting companies out in the web universe today.
To find a good hosting company, you can always search in Yahoo, Google and MSN for a while. May be you need to go to about 2 to3 pages depth. While searching, prefer key words like quality, performance, etc. Also you may like to prefer to mention your location with every key word, if you are keen to find a hosting company in your region (which is always a bonus).
Don't look for a free or cheap Web host
Two reasons why you should omit key words like “low cost”, “Cheaper” and such keywords.
1. These are not indication of good web hosting services
2. The hosting service providers have normally littered the net with these.
When you start analyzing the hosting companies, you can keep following points with you which not only explain what to look for but also how to ascertain its effectiveness
Read reviews about different web hosts. This is my first website. I was so impressed with BlueVoda Website Builder when I started using it that I parked my website at VodaHost in November 2007. I have had no problems with it since then. They were extremely helpful and would answer my questions satisfactorily.

Select One of Many Popular Web Hosts in the Industry
It is a real dilemma these days as by spending some amount of money, any hosting company can prevail at all possible location of customer search like Google, Yahoo, forums, market places etc. Therefore, wherever you go, you find some hosting companies haunting you.
Properties Your Website Host Should Have
Still not sure about how to go about selecting a web host for your first website? Check out the following related articles. The more you read about it, the better your first website will be. It depends how much you pay for parking (usually a monthly charge of less than $10 USD), but you should look for certain basic properties in a web host.
Some Website Hosts Have Reseller Programs
Like some other markets, the web-hosting is a competitive market, perhaps more so than others because of the increasing number of websites going live on a daily basis, literally thousands of them everyday. What many hosting customers do not realize is that the advertisements they come across may come from middlemen or better known as resellers instead of the actual host services providers. These resellers rent space and bandwidth on the hosts.
Understand Types Of Web Hosting
When searching for a hosting service provider to host your website, you will probably notice that most hosting providers have more than one web hosting plan. The plan you choose will depend on your hosting needs.
If you are just starting out with your first website, a shared hosting plan is usually a better choice. Shared hosting is, mostly, much cheaper than other hosting plans. Unless you have a specific need to hire a dedicated server, a shared hosting plan should do the job for your website.
Guidelines For Selecting a Web Host
When you finish developing your website, you need to do two things. Domain Hosting and Domain Registration. Here, website and domain words are used interchangeably.
Firstly, you have to park your website some place. For that you need what is known as a web host which should be reliable in every sense of the word. Search for reviews of different web hosts. Make sure the reviewer is not paid for top few on the list.
Secondly, after parking your website, you have to then register it. It takes a day or two that your website propagates through the Internet after registration.

In a Nutshell
Read as much as you can. Sometimes it's a good idea to park your website at a web host whose website builder you have used and liked. They can give you support in building your website as well as parking space. That is what I have done and I have not had any problems with it since November 2007.
