6 Big jobs remain recession-resistant

Because of this lousy market and the deepest recession in memory, every which way you look at it, jobs are being eliminated. It’s hard to think that there will be new jobs available. The Obama Administration says it is willing to provide money and other resources to create jobs in certain industries that were important from day one but have come to surface in a big way recently. So if you are out of work, or even deciding what you major in at college, here is a look at the recession-resistant industries in the U.S.

  1. National Security
    Partnership for Public Service estimated that Homeland Security and the Department of Defense will create more than 80,000 jobs in two years. These positions, when filled, will help protect the U.S. borders against a potential threat coming via air, sea and land.
  2. Transportation Security
    This is a part of the National Security. However, because of its nature of business, it is considered as a separate entity. Nearly 22,000 new employees are expected to take an active role in protecting massive transit hubs within the borders of the United States.
  3. Solar Energy
    80 per cent of the employees in the oil industry will be retiring in the next decade. Obama Administration says now is the time to invest in renewable energy. Aside from hiring younger employees in the oil and gas industry, green energy will see a tremendous growth in coming years.
  4. Energy Efficiency
    Not only do we need to fill the green job openings, but technology all over the world has created the need for new careers. It is hard to estimate how many jobs will be created. Managers, lawyers, computer specialists and such will be in high demand.
  5. Health Care
    Of the 30 fastest growing occupations that are measured by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly half of them are concentrated in health. These jobs will include nurses, medical assistants, physician assistants, home health aides, medical records and health information technicians, physical and occupational therapists.
  6. Primary Education
    More than 2.8 million teachers are expected to be needed over the next decade, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.

In a Nutshell
All is not lost due to the deepest recession in decades we are experiencing. It’s just that we have to set our priorities in new directions as far as seeking a job that can give us some security in the near future.
